Hi, I've been teaching for over 20 years now. I am putting on a few of the resources I'm currently making to support my work in Year 2. I have loads of resources I am tidying up and uploading. I hope you like them and find them useful. I will be updating it on a regular basis. Check out my 'bundles' of resources - they work out much cheaper! ;0)

For Palestine - Art Activity

I am sure that this will be seen as controversial by some but the school I work at is holding a ‘For Palestine’ day. The day aims to celebrate the cultural successes of Palestine and is going to be very light touch in regards to the current tensions between itself and Israel. As I work in a school in the Middle East the words Israel, Judaism or Jewish are not used in any of the resources. This resource is an Art resource which encourages children to make their own, idealised pictures of Palestine in the style of the artist Valerie Maugeri. It includes a step by step teaching PowerPoint showing photographs of the artwork being slowly built up, building and archetechtural features template and archway template. In summary, the teacher guides the children through the PowerPoint, the children draw around the different building and features templates to create their own individual, idealised Palestinian village. They colour using pastel crayons or coloured pencils in bright exhuberant colours and frame it in a choice of different Islamic archways. The resources encourage all the children’s work to be different from each others and will look great displayed together.
